Comments re. Japan response:

Here are some thoughts regarding VIAG and the triple catastrophe in Japan.
1. Call on those with expertise on radiation medicine to offer novel solutions for
- Rapid detection of amount of exposure (biomarkers, PCR for genes that indicate exposures, etc.)
- Prevention of radiation damage after exposure (e.g. behaviors that increase safety, Substance that decrease risk [KI, Niacin], etc.)
- Treatment of radiation victims
2. Call on those with expertise in epidemiology and/or Infectious Diseases to:

- Access... data on communicable endemic disease of Japan likely to be increased under unsanitary crowded conditions
- Suggest workable solutions to those illnesses under the current conditions
- Draft a list of potential infectious agents that could be introduced to Japan via the rescue effort
- Suggest workable solutions to those illnesses under the current conditions
3. Consider and suggest solutions for the combined effects of

- Radiation and infections
- Radiation and injury

4. Call on a team to review all of the suggestions, elect a leader to quickly write up a list of suggestions (with or without ateam of persons willing to review and edit the list) and send those to... personnel in Japan.

Please let me know how I can be of help. My heart goes out to the people of Japan.

Sincerely,

Prof. Dr. Aileen M. Marty M.D., FACP
